James J. Golden, 81, Longtime Greenwich Resident

NAPLES, Fla. - James Joseph Golden of Naples, formerly of Greenwich, Conn., died Oct. 12. He was 81.

Golden was born April 26, 1933, in Harrisburg, Pa., to James Joseph Golden and Catherine Sheehey Golden. He grew up in Lykens, Pa. Following his graduation from Admiral Billard Academy in New London, Conn., he continued his education at the University of Connecticut where he had received a football scholarship. He received his bachelor degree from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa. and his commission, through ROTC, as an officer in the U.S. Army. He served in the reserves.

He raised his family in Greenwich, Conn., where they lived for over 30 years. He spent his entire business career in the design and construction of reflective insulation and vapor barrier systems. Before his retirement in 2008, he served as chairman of the Board and CEO of Alumiseal Corporation, headquartered in New York City. He was a life member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers;, a member of the U.S National Committee for the International Institute of Refrigeration; and a member of the International Institute of Refrigeration.

He was a parishioner of St. William Catholic Church for 28 years. He was a member of the Union League Club of New York, Riverside Yacht Club, Riverside, Conn.; Burning Tree Country Club, Greenwich, Conn.; New Seabury Country Club, New Seabury, N.H., and the Pelican Bay Club in Naples.

Golden is survived by his wfie, Mary Kay; sons, James Joseph Golden of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Michael Regan Golden (Sue) of Greenwich, Conn.; and four grandchildren, Megan, Christi, Shannon and James. He was predeceased by his father, James.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at St. William Catholic Church, 601 Seagate Drive.
