Irene Salvatore Margenot, 91, Of Greenwich, Worked For Electrolux

GREENWICH, Conn. - Irene (Renee) Salvatore Margenot of Greenwich died May 22. She was 91.

Margenot was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Greenwich to Susan and Amadeo Salvatore. She attended Greenwich public schools and graduated from the original Greenwich High School in 1938, where she studied bookkeeping. She held many local positions in that field, she contributed to World War II when she was employed by Electrolux in Old Greenwich where they manufactured electric motors and precision controls for use in the war effort. She was married to Albert V. Margenot.

Margenot was a lifelong Greenwich resident and volunteer. She served as a nurse’s aide at Greenwich Hospital. Later, she volunteered at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop and the Greenwich Senior Center, where she held the office of treasurer.

Margenot is survived by her children, Albert V. Margenot Jr. of Ft Lauderdale, Fla., Suzanne M. (William) Warren, of Tulsa, Okla., John R. Margenot, of Greenwich, and Linda Margenot (Paul) Post of Madison, Wis.; brother, Bud Salvatore (Mary); brother-in-law, John B. Margenot, Jr. (Dolly); six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Calling hours are Tuesday, May 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Fred D. Knapp and Son Funeral Home, 267 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29 at St Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Ave., Riverside. A private burial service at St. Mary’s Cemetery will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greenwich Hospital or the Greenwich Senior Center.
