Born March 2, 1993, in Madrid, Spain, Armero grew up in Spain, Mexico City and Greenwich. In 2011, he graduated from Greenwich High School, where he was a member of the state champion math team and co-founder of the Fictional World History Club. He also received the Peter Church Memorial Award for creativity in math and science.

Armero was in his second year at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where he studied computer science and art in the BXA program. He interned at Nvidia Corp. in Silicon Valley last summer and had accepted a position at Dropbox in San Francisco for the upcoming summer.

He recently received an arts grant to create a smartphone app called the Smartphonular Synthesizer of Sounds and Camaraderie that would create music by wirelessly linking smart phones to a central hub equipped with large speakers.

Armero’s family said teachers described his math proofs as works of art. He was also an avid reader and talented computer programmer, gamer, artist and musician. More than 6 feet tall with a shock of brown hair and a distinctive fashion sense, he cut a recognizable figure everywhere he went.

He is survived by his father, Christophe Armero, of Riverside; his mother, Sue Armero, of Stamford; two brothers, Alexander and William Armero; his stepmother, Jennie Baird; two stepsiblings, Sam and Isabel Baird; and family in Spain and the U.K.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Middle School in Greenwich. Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Henry Armero Memorial Fund, which will be established to recognize Greenwich High School seniors who exhibit his characteristic imagination, creativity and excellence in computer science and art. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 255, Old Greenwich, CT 06870.
