Helen Garcia-Larsen, 75, Child Care Provider, TV Producer, Of Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Helen (Larsen Matturro) Garcia-Larsen, of Greenwich, died on May 22, after a long illness. She was 75.

Garcia-Larsen was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., on Jan. 31, 1939, to Helen (Burns) and William Larsen, .

Garcia-Larsen was a licensed child care provider for many years in Rye, N.Y. and Greenwich. Prior to her career as a childcare giver, Garcia-Larsen spent several years as a cable television producer for RCTV in Rye. Her innovative concepts were ahead-of-her-time reality shows. Many folks will remember her as the producer and host of such shows as “Real Kids” and “The Helen Larsen Show”, which aired in multiple markets on eight cable stations in the New York area encompassing over 50 cities, Manhattan, and all of Westchester County.

Garcia-Larsen was also Director of Helen Larsen Matturro's School of Modern Dance, in Port Chester and later in Rye.  She was also active in the United Methodist Church of Rye, the Bavarian Club Edelweiss, Westchester, and the Rye High School's Reunion Committee for the Class of 1957.

Garcia-Larsen was predeceased by her husband, Adolfo Garcia-Cardenas. She is survived by her children: Barbara (Matturro) Barclay of Stamford; , Robert D. Matturro, Jr., and Holly D. Matturro of Greenwich; three grandchildren; her sister Carol (Pat); and brothers William; and John (Gladys).
