GREENWICH, Conn. – Frank I. Henderson Jr., a lifelong Greenwich resident, died Nov. 25 at his home. He was 83.
He was born Dec. 24, 1928, the second son of Frank I. and Adelaide Wilmot Henderson. He attended Riverside School and Greenwich High School before joining the Marine Corps in 1946.
Henderson was honorably discharged in 1948 and received a Victory Medal. He married Elizabeth Hassan on Aug. 26, 1950, and graduated from Roanoke College with a degree in economics in 1952.
He then began a career in insurance, eventually serving as president, CEO and member of the board of directors of United States Life Insurance. He was also designated a Certified Life Underwriter.
He was predeceased by his wife; a son, Jeffrey; and a brother, William. He is survived by two sons, Mark (Marie) Henderson, of Riverside, and David (Dana) Henderson, of Southbury, Conn.; a daughter-in-law, Pamela, of Stamford; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich. Castiglione Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
