Frances MeVay, 65, Of Old Greenwich, Homemaker

OLD GREENWICH, Conn. - Frances (Woodcock) MeVay, "Frani", of Old Greenwich died March 1. She was 65.

MeVay was born in Stamford, the daughter of Robert Bell Woodcock and Frances (Bennett) Woodcock, she spent her youth in Norwalk and Darien, lived in Old Greenwich for many years, and Westport, Mass., for the past seven years.

MeVay was a graduate of The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., class of 1966 and served as class agent for many years. She was also a graduate of Bennett College in Millbrook, N.Y., class of 1968. She was a homemaker and a volunteer, giving much of her time to Call-A-Ride of Greenwich and serving on the board and as chair of the Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound. She was a past member of the Indian Harbor Yacht Club and Riverside Yacht Club in Conn., Warren's Point Beach Club in Little Compton, and Elephant Rock Beach Club in Westport. During her time at Riverside Yacht Club, she was co-chair of the Junior Sailing Committee, Lady of the Year in 1998 and Governor, class of 2001.

MeVay is survived by her husband, James Charles Francis MeVay; son, Alex Craige Haviland MeVay of Boston; daughter, Adriane MeVay Graham (Russell "Kip" Graham, Jr.) of Stamford; a sister; and a cousin. She was predeceased by her parents.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. in the United Congregational Church, The Commons, Little Compton, R.I. Relatives and friends invited.
