Florence Asch, 88, Of Greenwich, Co-Founded Pegasus Therapeutic Riding

GREENWICH, Conn. - Florence Rossman Asch of Greenwich died Dec. 6. She was 88.

Asch was born in New York City, to Jerome I. and Alva Brussel Rossman. After graduating from Virginia Intermont College, she worked for Coronet and Esquire Publishers in New York City. She was a resident of Greenwich for more than 50 years.

She co-founded the Pegasus Therapeutic Riding program for Fairfield County in 1975. She was a Red Cross nurse's aid for more than 50 years and was a bedside volunteer at Greenwich Hospital from the time of her move to Greenwich. She was the recipient of the Louise Crisafi Community Award.

Asch is survived by her children, Cathleen Asch Goss of Barrington Hills, Ill., Jonathan Asch of Greenwich, Amanda Asch Halle of Salisbury and Andrea Asch of Richmond, Vt.; seven grandchildren; and brother, Jerome I. Rossman, Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Asch; and sister, Barbara Rossman Engel.

No funeral service details were available.
