Ernesta Jaros Marchand, 94, Longtime Greenwich Resident

GREENWICH, Conn. - Ernesta Jaros Marchand of Greenwich died Tuesday, May 7. She was 94.

Marchand was born Aug. 9, 1918, in Akron, Ohio, daughter of Ernest Jaros and Zillah Hiedenheim. She grew up in Columbus, Ohio and New York City and spent two years at Ohio State University before leaving college. She moved with her husband to Greenwich in 1949.

Marchand went to Manhattanville College to finish her college education and graduated with a BA in Asian Studies. She subsequently received a Master's in Asian Art History from New York University's School of Fine Arts. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Greenwich.

Marchand is survived by daughters, Babette Pachence and Bonnie Jean MacDermotRoe; and son, Anthony Marchand. She was predeceased by her husband, Nathan Marchand; and daughters, Catherine Marchand and Mary Ann McLure.

Memorial Services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, June 1, at Second Congregational Church of Greenwich, 139 E. Putnam Ave., Greenwich. The family requests that all relatives and friends attending the service dress in bright colors instead of black.
