GREENWICH, Conn. - Eleanore K. LaBaw of Greenwich died Aug. 16. She was 87.

LaBaw was born May 24, 1927, in Hammond, Ind., to Walter Kropp and Martha Prusiecki Kropp. She grew up in East Chicago, Indiana. She graduated as salutatorian of East Chicago High School and matriculated to Purdue University where she earned both a Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Science in Microbiology.

Professionally, she developed one of the first antibiotics against TB, cycloserine, and earned multiple patents in developing antibiotics targeted against cancer at Commercial Solvents in Terre Haute, Ind. She was a volunteer running the Town of Greenwich primaries and elections. She was active in the American Kennel Club and Westchester Cocker Spaniel Club. She has been a Greenwich resident since 1965.

LaBaw is survived by her husband, Glenn; children, Jeffrey S. LaBaw, Andrea LaBaw Braunstein and Gregory S.M. LaBaw; and five grandchildren.

Calling hours are Thursday, Aug. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Castiglione Funeral Home at 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church at 84 Sherwood Ave., Greenwich. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph's Mausoleum in St. Mary's/Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich.
