Dominick P. Sarica, 90, Of Greenwich, WWII Veteran, Store Manager

GREENWICH, Conn. - Dominick P. Sarica of Greenwich died May 25. He was 90.

Sarica was born Nov. 20, 1922, to Giovanna and Antonio Sarica. He was a graduate of Hamilton Avenue Elementary School, Greenwich High School, and The Army Air Force Technical Training School in Chicago, Ill. He enlisted into the Army Air Corp on Nov. 12, 1942, where he became a member of the 351st bomb group, 508th squadron, 8th Air Force in World War II as a radio operator-mechanic at group headquarters from 1943 to 1945.

He was a lifetime member of the Amogerone Volunteer Fire Co. serving as a secretary for 20 years. He was the co-chairman of the Chickahominy Association and a member of the Chickahominy Reunion, the secretary of the Canadian American Hockey League for two years, a store manager at Grand Union Supermarket for 22 years, a store manager at Porricellis Food Mart for 27 years, and he was an usher at St. Roch's Church.

Sarica is survived by wife, Angelina C. Sarica; son, Anthony Bud Sarica (Emmy); seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and son-In-law, Angelo Pucci. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Joseph and Anthony; sisters, Josephine Salerno and Angela Zumbo; daughter, Geraldine Pucci; and granddaughter, Alana Sarica.

Calling hours are Thursday, May 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 31 at St. Roch’s Church. Interment will follow the service in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich.
