Charles J. LaMonica, 89, Of Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. - Charles J. LaMonica of Greenwich died Sept. 22. He was 89.

LaMonica was born June 7, 1924, in New York City to Angelina and Santo LaMonica. He graduated from Greenwich High school in 1942. After graduating he went on to join the United States Army and served from 1942 to 1943. He worked at Fawcetts Publications, AMF Corp for 16 years and then Chase Bag Co. for 28 years as a mailroom supervisor. He was a member of the Volunteer Hose & Chemical Co. No. 2, Greenwich Special Police, the American Legion, the Redmen Club and many community services around Greenwich.

LaMonica is survived by his wife, Katherine Porcheddu of Greenwich; children, June (Jamie) DeAndressi of Stamford, Darlene (Bill) Church of Greenwich; four grandchildren; a great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours are Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Castiglione Funeral Home. A service will begin at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Greenwich.
