Caroline Dudas, 98, Of Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. – Caroline Zack Dudas of Greenwich died Nov. 14. She was 98.

Dudas was born March 20, 1914, in Elizabeth, N.J., to Josephine Wronka and Stanley Gryzch Zack. She attended schools in Greenwich and Port Chester, N.Y.

She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Greenwich and a member of Sacred Heart Ladies Guild.

Dudas worked for Lifesavers in Port Chester as a machine operator for 20 years. Dudas was a member their bowling league for seven years. She also worked as a waitress at the former Fritz and Tom’s Restaurant in Port Chester.

She was also a member of Glenville AARP 320 and St. Paul’s Seniors Group in Byram. Dudas volunteered as a class mother at the former Byram Elementary School.

After retiring, she volunteered at voting polls in Glenville, bundled daffodils for Greenwich Hospital Fund and helped archive published articles for the Greenwich Health Association.

An avid card player, Dudas enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, collecting coins and taking trips with senior groups to Mohegan Sun and Fox Wood casinos. She is survived by a sister, Helen Wach, of Miami; three children, Victoria Quatrone, Beverly (Richard) Shockley and Anthony (Isabella) Dudas; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Dudas was predeceased by her husband, Victor O. Dudas; and five siblings Anthony Zack, Mary Zack, Veronica Zack, Mildred Meieshkewich and Julia Dudas.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Castiglione Funeral Home in Greenwich. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church in Greenwich. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich.
