Brian J. Salerno, 78, Longtime Greenwich Resident, Retired UBS Employee

GREENWICH, Conn. - Brian J. Salerno of Greenwich died Monday, July 15. He was 78.

Salerno was born Jan. 20,1935, in New York, to Anthony and Katherine Ryan Salerno. Raised in New Rochelle, N.Y., he was a graduate of New Rochelle High School, class of 1953. He attended and graduated from Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia where he was president of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He also served in the U.S. Navy reserves. He was a resident of Greenwich since 1972.

After his marriage he settled with his family in Westchester County and embarked on a very long career on Wall Street before settling in Greenwich, in 1972. He started at the firm Hayden Stone and moved to E.F. Hutton where he became senior vice president of Block Trading throughout the 1970's and 1980's. He worked for UBS until his retirement in the mid 1990's.

Salerno is survived by his sons, Brian J Salerno, Jr., Jon T. Salerno and Gregory A Salerno, all of Greenwich; sister, Katherine C Schedlbauer of Springfield, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his former wife, Nanci; and brother, Robert M. Salerno.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25 at St.Michael the Archangel Parish, 469 North St., Greenwich CT, 06830. Burial will be private.
