Barrington King Fuchs, 88, Of Greenwich, Hospital Volunteer

GREENWICH, Conn. - Barrington King Fuchs of Greenwich died Tuesday, April 30. She was 88.

Fuchs was born Dorothy Barrington King, Oct. 21, 1924, in Baltimore, Md., to Dorothy Armstrong King and Commander James Dunlop King. She attended Calvert, Bryn Mawr and Greenwood schools in Baltimore. She made her debut at the Bachelors Cotillion in Baltimore. Throughout her school years,  she worked as a professional model. After graduation from Greenwood, she worked at the Calvert School to help develop its Home Instruction division. She went on to work for Maryland's 2nd district U.S. Congressman James Devereaux, and later wrote the society column for the Baltimore Daily News.

Fuchs was a community volunteer for many years at Greenwich Hospital, and a longtime member of Christ Church and The Belle Haven Club. She also co-founded Enterprizes Catering, and managed The Light Touch, both of Greenwich.

Fuchs is survived by daughters, Bettina Fuchs McCarthy of Richmond, Va.; Barrington "Bingy" Fuchs Greenough of Washington, N.J.; Holly Armstrong Fuchs, Victoria "Tori" Fuchs Holland, and Kimberley Corbin "K.C." Fuchs, all of Greenwich; seven grandchildren; and one great grandson. She was predeceased by her parents; her former husband, James E. Fuchs; and her brother, James Dunlop King Jr. of Baltimore.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, May 6 at Christ Church Greenwich, 254 East Putnam Ave., in Greenwich.
