Antoinette Scafa, 81, Retired From Greenwich's Public Works Department

GREENWICH, Conn. - Antoinette (Pellicano) Scafa died Friday, Oct. 17. She was 81.

Scafa was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Montreal, to Angelo and Teresa (Ficara) Pellicano. After graduating from O'Sullivan College in Montreal, she arrived in the United States from Canada in the early 1950s. She worked at Fawcett Publications for a short time and then in 1956 began a career spanning 45 years with the town of Greenwich. She retired in 2001 as accounts supervisor in the Department of Public Works.

Scafa is survived by her brothers, Demetrio "Tony" Pellicano and Angelo Pellicano of Stamford and Fortunato "Freddy" Pellicano of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Norman A. Scafa; brothers, Joseph and Dominic Pellicano.

Calling hours are Monday, Oct. 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Castiglione Funeral Home, Inc., 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.
