GREENWICH, CONN. – Anthony "ToTo" J. DeLuca of Cos Cob died Nov. 25, surrounded by his family. He was 76.
DeLuca was born June 19, 1936, to Anthony and Vivian Urso DeLuca. In 1955, he graduated from Greenwich High School, where he was a varsity football player from his freshmen year though his senior year. He received all-state awards all four years.
He also played with the Golden Bears, a semi-pro team in Stamford. He then had a brief career with the Green Bay Packers. He was married to R. Nancy DeLuca for 52 years. She survives.
In 1966, he started A. DeLuca & Sons Inc, a local excavating business. Family was the most important part of his life and he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
An avid sports fan, DeLuca loved watching the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He also loved spending his winters in Florida.
DeLuca is survived by his wife; two sons, William (Cathijo) DeLuca and Lawrence (Katie) DeLuca; a daughter, Nancy (George) Cardini; a brother, Lawrence DeLuca; a sister, Rosemarie Abbazia; 13 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Anthony DeLuca.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Castiglione Funeral Home in Greenwich. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
