GREENWICH, Conn. - Alice Loughran Hyland a Greenwich native and lifelong resident, died Oct. 7. She was 81.
Hyland was born Jan. 27, 1932, to Joseph and Ann Loughran, immigrants from County Tyrone, Ireland. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1950 and from New York Hospital as a radiology technician. For some 30 years she worked as an x-ray technician at Greenwich Radiology Group. After retirement she was a volunteer at St. Mary's Church's Social Concern Program and serving the Pacific House Shelter for the Homeless in Stamford.
Hyland is survived by her husband, George; children, Mark (Susan), Ann (Bill) Gallagher, Michael (Jacquie); brother, James (Mary) Loughran; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph.
Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 10 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Castiglione Funeral Home . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11 at St. Mary's Church. Interment will follow the Mass in Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich.
