Wind Chill Advisory Issued As Frigid Cold Settles Over Greenwich

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Snow is back in the forecast for Thursday – a chance of it, at least. But first Fairfield County must deal with the bone-chilling cold.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for northern Fairfield County for 2 to 8 a.m. early Thursday morning.

Dangerously low wind chills will occur across portions of interior southern Connecticut. Overnight lows of -6 below to 0 degrees, combined with winds of 5 mph, will make it feel as cold as -17.

Prolonged exposure to frigid cold and low wind chills can cause frostbite or hypothermia. Residents should dress warmly and cover exposed skin with hats, gloves and scarves. The wind chill warning lasts through the Thursday morning work and school commute.

On Thursday, scattered flurries are possible after noon with a high in the teens and wind chills still below zero, possibly as cold as -14.

Overnight temperatures will fall into the single digits, with wind chill values as low as -11.

Friday will be sunny, with a high near 18 but a wind chill as low as -12. There will be a chance of snow showers after midnight with a low in the low teens.

A chance of snow showers returns Saturday, with a high near 30.
