What's Happening in Greenwich This Weekend

GREENWICH, Conn. — Easter and Passover events are the highlights of the weekend in and around Greenwich. Along with holiday celebrations, kids and their families also can create Lego masterpieces Saturday at the Cos Cob Library. 

Friday, April 6

• 12:30 p.m.: Ride the Train to Visit the Easter Bunny. On Friday and Saturday, the Danbury Railway Museum invites visitors to take a ride on a vintage train to the Easter Bunny's special railroad coach car. Trains depart every 30 minutes from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. In addition to the ride and meet and greet with the Easter Bunny, there is a small gift for children from the Easter Bunny. • 6 p.m.: First Night Passover Seder at Greenwich Reform Synagogue. Rabbi Sklarz and Cantor Lipton will be conducting a Passover Seder instead of a regular Friday Family Service. Greenwich Reform Synagogue, 257 Stanwich Road.

• 7:30 p.m.: Stations of the Cross Service. Stanwich Congregational Church, 202 Taconic Road.

Saturday, April 7

• 9 a.m.: The Bunny Boogie 5K Road Race takes place at Pear Tree Point in Darien. Click on the race website for more information.

• 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.: U-Build It Lego Time: Drop in and create something wonderful with Legos. Your creations will be photographed before they are returned to the bins. Children 3 years of age and older are welcome. Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult. Cos Cob Library, 5 Sinawoy Road.

• 1 p.m.: Library volunteer orientation. All volunteers must attend before they can begin volunteering. Orientations are held every Saturday at 1 p.m. and meet at the Welcome Desk. Greenwich Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave.

• 2 p.m.: Mead Lake Hike With Audubon Greenwich. Join Audubon Greenwich to circle Mead Lake in spring to seek out colorful tree buds, early flowers and any early emerging turtles, frogs, snakes and insects, and returning wetland and water birds. Ages 5 & up. RSVP required to Ted at 203-869-5272, Ext. 230. Audubon Greenwich, 613 Riversville Road.

• 6 p.m.: Shir Ami Second Night Passover Seder: Join with Rabbi Axe and the congregational family for a service, music and a potluck meal. Indicate on the RSVP form what you plan to bring and if you are able to help with set up and/or clean up. Make sure all food is kosher for Passover. Sunday, April 8

• 6 a.m.: Greenwich Baptist Church Easter Sunrise Service. Greenwich Baptist Church is joining with other churches at Cove Beach in Stamford for a special sunrise service. Visit the church's website for directions. 

• 6:25 a.m.: Easter Sunrise Service. In the New Burial Cemetery next to the church. Greet the morning with Easter hymns of joy and a brief dialogue sermon. Second Congregational Church, 139 E. Putnam Ave.

• 9:30 a.m.: Easter Service at Presbyterian Church of Old Greenwich, 38 W. End Ave., Old Greenwich.

• 10:30 a.m.: Easter Mass with Glorious Music and Hallelujah Chorus sung by the choir and those who wish to join them. Easter sermon and Children's Easter Egg Hunt. Second Congregational Church, 139 E. Putnam Ave.

• St. Mary Parish, 178 Greenwich Ave., will celebrate Easter liturgies at 7 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
