What's Happening in Greenwich This Weekend

GREENWICH, Conn. – This weekend in Greenwich check out a talk on mountain lions, two Saturday concerts, a fundraising dog walk and Greenwich’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Here are some of the other events planned for the weekend in Greenwich:

Friday, March 23

• Free exhibit tours at Bruce Museum - Exhibit tours are free with price of admission on Fridays at the Bruce Museum from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.; call (203) 869-6786 for more information.

• Mountain lion talk – Learn about cougars and the latest sightings with Bil Betty and Bo Ottman at Audubon Greenwich, 613 Riversville Road; $10 for adults and $5 for children.

• Screening of “Restrepo” – The Greenwich Library feature Friends Friday Night Film is a documentary about a year with a platoon in one of Afghanistan’s most deadly valleys; 8 p.m., Greenwich Library Cole Auditorium; free.

Saturday, March 24

• Children’s concert - Guitarist Rami Vamos will perform “Wolfgang Amadeus Schmutzinberry,” a concert for children at Greenwich Library’s Cole Auditorium at 2 p.m.; free; call (203) 622-7900.

• Yoga for adults and kids - Adults can enjoy hot spa yoga – a combination of yoga, Thai massage and aromatherapy – while kids do fun yoga games and poses; 4 p.m.; $40; Mantra Mind Body Studio, 1455 E. Putnam Ave.; call (203) 990-0500 for more information.

• Greenwich Choral Society performance – The society will perform “Alexander’s Feast” by G.F. Handel at Christ Church Greenwich at 4:30 p.m.; $35; call (203) 622-5136.

• New Lebanon School spaghetti dinner fundraiser – The school’s PTA will host a spaghetti dinner including a pick-a-prize drawing and two silent auctions, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.; $12 adults, $5 children 4 to 12 years old and seniors; 25 Mead Ave.

Sunday, March 25

• Dog walk fundraiser – North Mianus fifth-grade students will hold a dog walk to benefit the Children Against Mines Program from 9 a.m. to noon at Greenwich Point; $10 donation.

• 38th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade – Line up and down Greenwich Avenue to see Greenwich’s annual parade, beginning at Town Hall and ending on Steamboat Road; 2 p.m.; free.

• Grief and loss support group - Support group for people who are grieving from a loss to learn coping skills, facilitated by bereavement counselor Paige Stetson, LPC, LMHC; 2 p.m.; 237 Taconic Road in Greenwich; free.

• Open mic and poetry reading - Listen to accomplished poets read some of their work, answer questions and speak informally about poetry; every Sunday, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.; Arcadia Café, Old Greenwich; call (203) 637-8766 for more information.
