GREENWICH, Conn. A water main break on River Road in Greenwich closed the roadway between East Putnam Avenue and Robertson Lane on Monday until repairs can be made, police said.
Workers from Southern Natural Gas Co. broke a 16-inch water main at 2 p.m. Monday. Police Department spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said, This is going to be a time-consuming repair job.
The hole will be plated over Monday night to allow traffic to move through, though repair work won't start for at least two days, according to Gray.
River Road will be closed between East Putnam Avenue and Robertson Lane to through traffic at least until the evening rush hour.
