Uncooperative Teller Thwarts Attempted Bank Robbery In Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. -- A bank teller with steely nerves refused to comply with an attempted bank robber's demands, and he fled a Greenwich bank empty-handed Monday afternoon, police said.

Shortly after 3 p.m., a man in a Yankees baseball cap entered the Cos Cob branch of the Chase Bank at 371 Post Road and presented a teller with a note demanding money, police said. No weapon was displayed, police said.

The teller did not immediately comply with the demands of the note, and the suspect then left without incident and without any cash, police said. No one was injured, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male of average height and build, with a medium complexion, police said. He was also wearing sunglasses, a dark hoodie sweatshirt, and blue jeans.

Greenwich police officers were at the scene of the attempted bank robbery late Monday afternoon.
