Top Stories In Greenwich: Mother & Daughter Tase Clerk, Arrests In Murders

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Many of the top stories this past week in Fairfield County involved arrests in serious crimes. Two teens were charged with felony murder in Danbury, a Stratford man was charged with manslaughter in the death of his niece and a family of four were charged in the murder of a Bridgeport man. And a woman and her young daughter were charged with using a taser on a store clerk.

On the lighter side, a number of new restaurants are opening in Fairfield County. Here are the top stories of the week: 

A would-be shoplifter identified as Dorsey Saunders, 41, of Bridgeport and her 12-year-old daughter kicked out the front glass doors of a 7-Eleven in Fairfield and tased the clerk after he locked them in the store and called for help, police said.

Four members of a Bridgeport family have been arrested in a July dispute that led to the fatal shooting of their neighbor, police said. Waldo “Abel” Gonzalez, 43, was charged with murder in the death of Ronald Simmons, police said. His wife, Luz Perez, 39, and his daughters Dynasty Gonzalez, 18, and a 15-year-old were charged with third-degree assault, police said.

Two Danbury juveniles — Lorenzo Santana, 16, and Ronald Massagli, 15 — have been charged with felony murder in the death of 18-year-old Gabriel Bara-Bardo, 18, earlier this month, Danbury police said.

Michael “Buddha” Catchings, a 21-year-old Stratford resident, was charged with manslaughter in the fatal shooting of his 27-year-old niece during an argument, police said.

29-year-old Jason "Boots" Prawl of Bridgeport will spend 151 months behind bars for trafficking two minor girls to engage in sex.

Willia Padilla-Rivera, 49, of Stamford was walking in the area on Main Street in Norwalk when he was hit by a car. He died later of his injuries at Norwalk Hospital.

A man was killed after he was hit by a Metro-North train in Fairfield overnight and knocked into the Mill River, officials said.

Bobby Q’s Cue & Co., an eatery that specializes in pit-smoked BBQ,  has opened in Norwalk's Waypointe District. It also dishes up American fare with favorites such as smokehouse chili, wings, ribs, pulled pork and brisket.

Paci Restaurant, a renovated Southport Italian favorite, is gearing up for its grand reopening, complete with a new menu.

Chef Brian Lewis of The Cottage is opening another Westport restaurant. More details are to come but expect modern Japanese Izakaya meets Omakase in a treasured local landmark: The Vigilant Hose Company Firehouse at 6 Wilton Road.
