Suspected Drug Dealer Nabbed

An alleged career criminal from Stamford was arrested late Tuesday in the Staples parking lot on East Putnam Ave. on drug charges. Acting on an anonymous tip, Greenwich police found Rory Girard Bernier, 47, of 143 Hoyt St. in the store lot. Officers searched Bernier and found OxyContin, oxycodone and other prescription drugs packaged for sale. A check of his criminal history showed Bernier had over 60 arrests, including over 25 for failure to appear in court on various charges. He was charged with possession of narcotics, intent to sell narcotics under one ounce, criminal attempt at sale of narcotics, possession of marijuana and obtaining prescription drugs. Bernier was able to post a $75,000 bond and is set to appear in court on Oct. 5.

Luis Hernandez, 32, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop after police found he was wanted on a warrant from Stamford for driving without a license and having a defective windshield. He was turned over to Stamford Police and later released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 8.
