Sound Shore Drive In Greenwich To Close For Sidewalk Installation

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Sound Shore Drive in Greenwich will be closed starting Tuesday, Sept. 2, underneath the railroad bridge between Strickland Road/Station Drive and the new Cos Cob Park driveway as new sidewalks are installed.

Sound Shore Drive will be closed near the Cos Cob train station.

The closure is required to allow construction of new sidewalks along Sound Shore Drive in order to provide continuous pedestrian routes to the proposed Cos Cob Park at the old power plant location. The road closure will last about two weeks, the town of Greenwich announced.

As a result, once work begins, that short stretch of road will remain closed, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

All commuter parking lots will remain open and temporary pedestrian walkways will be created to provide safe passage under the railroad bridge and to the train platforms.

If you have any questions, contact James Michel, chief engineer, by phone at 203-622-7767 or by email at jmichel@greenwichct.org.

Further updates will be posted to the public works section of the town website as needed.
