GREENWICH, Conn. — All charges have been dropped against a teacher from Danbury who was accused of sexually assaulting a student at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich where he taught math, the Greenwich Time reported . And the man also got his job back.

State’s Attorney Richard Colangelo Jr. withdrew the charges of second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor against Michael Maida, 46, before Superior Court Judge Gary White on Tuesday, the Time reported.

The charges were filed in March 2014 after a complaint from a student with mental health issues who had twice made allegations about suffering abuse that were “deemed unfounded by different authorities,” including against her father, the Time reported.

Investigators also found that Maida was most likely coaching during the time in which the accuser said the incident took place, the Time said.

Head of School Pamela Juan Hayes sent a statement to the school community, informing them that the charges had been dismissed and that Maida would rejoin the faculty.
