Romney Rolls to Huge Win in Greenwich Voting

GREENWICH, Conn. – Mitt Romney swept to victory with 1,437 votes Tuesday in Greenwich's Republican presidential primary, according to the Greenwich Registrar of Voters.

Newt Gingrich received 101 votes, Ron Paul 164 and Rick Santorum, who suspended his campaign earlier this month, 43 votes; 38 voters remained uncommitted to any candidate.

Statewide, Romney received 23,586 votes, or 66.2 percent of the total.

Romney is expected to win the Republican nomination to challenge President Barack Obama in the fall election.

Here is a breakdown of how the 12 Greenwich districts voted:

District 1: Romney – 90 votes; Gingrich – 7 votes; Paul – 8 votes; Santorum – 4 votes; 2 uncommitted.

District 2: Romney – 82 votes; Gingrich – 5 votes; Paul – 13 votes; Santorum – 1 vote; 1 uncommitted.

District 3: Romney – 19 votes; Gingrich – 10 votes; Paul – 3 votes; Santorum – 0 votes; 2 uncommitted.

District 4: Romney – 41 votes; Gingrich – 10 votes; Paul – 3 votes; Santorum – 2 votes; 2 uncommitted.

District 5: Romney – 158 votes; Gingrich - 6 votes; Paul – 11 votes; Santorum – 2 votes; 6 uncommitted.

District 6: Romney – 166 votes; Gingrich – 6 votes; Paul – 13 votes; Santorum – 2 votes; 5 uncommitted.

District 7: Romney – 138 votes; Gingrich – 9 votes; Paul – 10 votes; Santorum – 0 votes; 0 uncommitted.

District 8: Romney – 136 votes; Gingrich – 13 votes; Paul – 18 votes; Santorum – 9 votes; 6 uncommitted.

District 9: Romney – 106 votes; Gingrich – 7 votes; Paul – 16 votes; Santorum – 7 votes; 1 uncommitted.

District 10: Romney – 124 votes; Gingrich – 9 votes; Paul – 12 votes; Santorum – 1 vote; 2 uncommitted.

District 11: Romney – 168 votes; Gingrich – 13 votes; Paul – 20 votes; Santorum – 5 votes; 5 uncommitted.

District 12: Romney – 121 votes; Gingrich – 6 votes; Paul – 11 votes; Santorum – 1 vote; 4 uncommitted.   

Absentee: Romney – 88; Gingrich – 6; Paul – 11; Santorum – 1; 4 uncommitted.
