Prepare For An Influx Of Train Commuters, Norwalk Police Warn

NORWALK, Conn. -- Commuters should prepare for a difficult trip to work Monday morning, especially with an influx of train riders expected in the city for rush hour, Norwalk police said in a statement Sunday.

Metro-North has limited operations east of the South Norwalk station due to Friday's train derailment and accident on the Fairfield-Bridgeport border. But service west of Norwalk is not affected.

Norwalk can expect an influx of traffic from commuters headed to New York City on Monday, police said.

The Norwalk Police Department, along with MTA Police will have additional officers available to direct traffic and assist commuters.

Additional vehicle traffic is expected at the train stations that are operating Monday morning, with 20,000 to 30,000 regular train commuters looking for access, police said.
