WILTON, Conn. — A Wilton man, 22, is suspected in the homicide of his father at their home, Wilton police said Friday.

Aaron Ramsey is suspected in the death of Edward Ramsey, 73, who died Thursday afternoon of blunt force trauma to his body, Wilton Police Chief Michael Lombardo said at a press conference Friday.

The Ramseys lived at 125 Signal Hill Road in Wilton.

Aaron Ramsey confessed to detectives during an interview at Norwalk Hospital, Lombardo said.

On Thursday, Wilton police received two 911 calls regarding a man matching Aaron Ramsey's description, Lombardo said. At 3:20 p.m., Thursday, police received a call from a resident of nearby Cheesespring Road who said a man tried to break into her car. Another resident of Cheesespring called later to report a man trying to break into her home.

Aaron Ramsey has been arrested and is being held on a $1 million bond. He was expected to be arraigned in Norwalk on Friday.

Please be respectful of the family going through this tragedy. A husband and a father has passed away, and a son and brother is incarcerated under tragic circumstances due to issues regarding his mental health. This was a loving family torn apart by an event in which the young man's perception of reality was greatly skewed by psychological issues that many people struggle greatly with.
This is not a case where there is malicious premeditation, nor were the actions committed by the assailant really understood since his perception of reality was so distant from the truth. If anything he needs many years of help and the correct treatment with in the system.

It is understandable that the general misinformed public will make ignorant comments concerning the case. However, as I began I end: Please be respectful of the family and reserve your judgement until all the facts are presented in open court.
