Paul Simon To Headline Greenwich Town Party

GREENWICH, Conn. – Singer-songwriter Paul Simon and the famed reggae band the Wailers will headline the all-day Greenwich Town Party this May, organizers announced Wednesday. Tickets will go on sale Thursday.

The Greenwich Town Party, a nonprofit organization, started the party last year to bring residents together for a townwide event. It is scheduled this year for Saturday, May 26, at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.

Twelve-time Grammy Award-winning Simon will be joined on the main stage by the blues band Tedeschi Trucks Band, gospel legend Kirk Franklin as well as Grace Potter & The Nocturnals.

The party features a family festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. complete with toy demonstrations by Try Out Toys, hula-hooping from We Sell Hoops, face painting by Faces by Wells, clown performances, strolling magicians, balloon artists and a balloon station by Mr. Bungles, caricature artists, free carnival games with prizes, arts and crafts, inflatable bounce houses and slides, and more.

Attendees can sample pulled pork BBQ and chicken from 10 teams then vote for their favorite in a grill-off from noon to 2:30 p.m.

An array of menu items will also be available for purchase from area restaurants, including Asiana Café, Aux Delices, Burke Catering, Fjord Fisheries, Longford’s Own-Made Ice Cream, The Ginger Man, My Favorite Place and Watson’s Catering.

Ticket prices for the Greenwich Town Party are $40 for families of six or fewer, with at least one child 12 and under for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. only and must enter before noon; $40 per person for general all-day admission for attendees ages 13-64; and $10 per person for seniors ages 65 and older. Children 12 and under are free, but parents must arrange for tickets in advance at Greenwich Town Hall.

Donations from town residents and local businesses provide the majority of funding and special town sponsor tickets are also available for $350 per person.
