Jeffrey Morris has been honored as the Greenwich Police Departments officer of the month for his assistance to the Department of Homeland Security. Officer Morris acquired intelligence on a person of interest during a routine motor vehicle stop.
"It's this type of situation that reminds us that there is no such thing as a routine motor vehicle stop, and yes, it can happen in Greenwich," Police Capt. Jim Heavey said in a prepared statement.
In December, Morris was patrolling the Cos Cob section of town when he stopped a motor vehicle. Before the evening was over Morris determined that the occupant was under investigation by Homeland Security.
"Daily, the officers of the Greenwich Police Department respond to calls for service that may range from the dull barking dogs complaint to the dangerous armed robbery calls," said Heavey. "On this day, Officer Morris' meticulous efforts were important not only for the safety of our local citizens, but for the larger community as well."
Congratulations Officer Morris!
