New timetables will be released for the New Haven, Hudson and Harlem lines starting on Saturday, Jan. 18, to reflect the track work that has been completed since the current timetable was implemented.

Later this month, all four tracks will be in service along the 6-mile stretch between Woodlawn and Melrose for the first time since the upgrades began in July, Metro-North announced.

“Rebuilt track allows trains to operate safely at higher speeds, which will reduce running times.  In other locations we continue to rebuild track so that we can gradually increase safe track speeds,” Metro-North President Howard Permut said in a statement.

In addition, track speed will be increased by 15 mph to 75 mph on three of the four tracks in the area for the first time in five years.

Metro-North riders on the New Haven Line should see travel times reduced by up to two minutes on weekdays and weekends.

“Metro-North’s goal is always to provide safe, reliable service even while performing critical maintenance," Permut said in a statement. "The recent track project in the Bronx reduced track capacity by up to 50 percent. With the completion of this major project, customers should notice improvements in the service.”

Full train service at Melrose and Tremont stations also will resume. These stations had been served with shuttle buses to Fordham throughout the project that significantly reduced track capacity in an area that carries New Haven Line trains.
