Need to Beat the Heat?

With temperatures rising close to 100 degrees, you may be wondering how to get away from the heat. Here are a few ideas of how to keep you cool while enjoying the day.

• Break out the sunscreen and head to Greenwich Point. If you want to swim, work on your tan (but make sure you don't burn) or people watch, there's something for everyone. Stop into the Seaside Center and learn about Long Island Sound and the animals that inhabit it. For those of you who would prefer fresh water, Byram Beach and Pool is another great place to cool down.

• Visit the Bruce Museum and check out the exhibits they have on display. The Evolution of the Natural World, the most recent exhibition, shows astonishing fossils and highlights the development of the Earth. For the fashionista, the museum also has the Dressmaker's Art exhibition. Gaze at the 24 stunning pieces from the early 19th-century. See how designers paved the way new industries and designs.

• Grab a good book and relax at Greenwich Library. The library offers a wide array of activities for its patrons. You could go to a meditation class or bring the kids to musical workshop.

• For those feeling ambitions or just want to brush-up their skills, head over to Greenwich Community Sailing to sail or kayak. There are classes for children and adults. Students will be able to enjoy the water while learning about marine wildlife.

• After a long day in the sun or trying to hide from it, treat yourself to delicious to ice cream or a cold drink.
