Trains on the New Haven Line were experiencing delays of five to 10 minutes Tuesday afternoon due to weather-related conditions, Metro-North said.
The storm arrived in the metropolitan New York City area earlier than predicted, bringing higher snow accumulation and stronger wind gusts, raising the prospect of snow drifts of up to two feet, Metro-North said in a statement.
As the storm progresses, train service may be curtailed or suspended depending upon weather conditions so that no trains become stranded.
Customers are urged to take care when traveling during inclement weather and allow for additional travel time. Use caution when entering and exiting trains, and while on platforms and staircases at stations.
Commuters are asked to monitor the status of trains via Metro-North's alert web page for the most up-to-date information.
