Metro-North reported the problem on all lines -- New Haven, Hudson and Harlem -- at about 9:25 a.m. The railroad said at 10:30 a.m. that the problem was continuing.

The problems are due to earlier disabled trains at Harlem 125th Street and in the Park Avenue Tunnel. Metro-North riders reported crowds and delays at the Harlem 125th Street station after the trains became disabled.

By early afternoon, Metro-North says New Haven Line service was experiencing residual delays up to 25 minutes due to earlier disabled trains and weather-related power issues in the vicinity of Pelham and Mount Vernon East.

On the New Canaan Branch, buses were running in place of the 10:58 a.m. train departing Stamford making all stops to New Canaan.

Substitute bus service was also provided on the New Canaan Branch for the 10:28 a.m. train departing New Canaan making all stops to Stamford.

This is the second day in a row with bus service used for some New Canaan trains.

Also, substitute bus service will be provided on the Danbury Branch for the 12:17 p.m. train departing South Norwalk making all stops to Danbury due to earlier mechanical difficulties. Bus service is operating 15 to 20 minutes late.

At 11 a.m., northbound service on the Danbury Branch was experiencing 20 to 30 minutes delays, and southbound service was delayed due to mechanical difficulties.

Earlier, Metro-North also reported that the 7:54 a.m. train out of Danbury to South Norwalk on the Danbury Branch was  canceled due to mechanical difficulties.

Passengers were put on the next southbound train to South Norwalk departing Danbury at 9:05 a.m.

Friday is also the second day of delays on the Danbury Branch.
