Massimo Furano, Greenwich Drowning Victim, 2

A Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Greenwich for 2-year-old Massimo Furano, who died Thursday. Massimo and his grandmother, Anna Furano, drowned in a manmade koi pond at his grandparent’s Greemwich home. The drowning has been ruled an accident.

Massimo was born in Grnenwich on May 25, 2009, to Giuseppe and Emilia (Pirrone) Furano.

In addition to his parents, survivors are Massimo’s brother, Amedeo Furano; his grandparents, Carmine Furano, and Franco and Lorenzo Pirro; his great-grandparents, Attilio Pirrone and Emilia Tenuta, Giuseppe Alimena and Rita Peluso, and Iolanda Bria; three uncles, Attilio Pirrone, Mario Pirrone, and Pasquale Furano; two aunts, Rose Furano and Chiaro Furano, and two cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Avenue in Greenwich. Following Mass, burial follow in Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made in Massimo’s memory to Abilis, 50 Glenville St., Greenwich, CT 06831.
