Mary R. Whitlock, who owned and operated Whitlock's Grocery in Greenwich with her husband, died Sept. 24 at the age of 96. Whitlock was born in Boomer, W. Va., on July 22, 1914.
Whitlock also worked as a machine operator for Homelite. She also enjoyed dancing and knitting.
Whitlock was predeceased by her husband, James Herbert Whitlock. Survivors include her daughters, Jeanetta Zehalka and Rosalie Frankel; a brother, Ross Marullo; a sister Letizia Santora, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends may visit at the Castiglione Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass will be said on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine's Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Donations can be made in Whitlock's name to the Alzheimer's Association or to Greenwich Woods Health Care.
