GREENWICH, Conn. -- The 21-year-old man from Ohio who was found on fire on the top of a Metro-North train headed from Stamford to Greenwich was in critical condition late Sunday, NBC Connecticut reported.

The train lost power at about 5:08 a.m. as it pulled into the Riverside station, NBC said. Workers found Brian McClellen on fire atop one of the cars and used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, NBC said.

McClellen was electrocuted and burned after a pantograph — which connects the train car to the overhead power wires — fell on him as the train entered the station, the MTA police told NBC.

McClellen was taken to the burn unit at the Westchester Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.

The man had jumped onto the moving train near the Greenwich/Stamford border, NBC Connecticut said.
