Pernell McBride, 51, was charged with shooting John Alston, 35, to death at 119 S. Main St. in South Norwalk on May 23, 2012. He has been held on $1 million bond since his arrest May 31 in Manhattan by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Defense attorney Miles Gerety credited the testimony of a 12-year-old girl for his client's acquittal, the Advocate said. The description of the shooter from the girl, who was 9 at the time and on a school bus at the scene of the fatal shooting, did not seem to match McBride, the Advocate said.
