Irene Wiercioch, Worked for Electrolux

Lifelong Greenwich resident Irene Wiercioch died Sept. 24 at Greenwich Hospital. She was 83. Wiercioch worked for the Electrolux Co., which operated its first U.S. vacuum-cleaner plant in Old Greenwich from 1935 to 1985.

After her retirement, Wiercioch enjoyed sewing and entertaining family and friends at holiday parties. She especially enjoyed picking up a good bargain at a tag sale. Wiercioch and her husband, John, were active members of the Polish Club in Port Chester, N.Y.

Funeral services took place Sept. 27 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial was at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, N.Y.
