Space Station Will Be Visible In Armonk Skies

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Stargazers need not be alarmed on Friday, Nov. 7, if they happen to see a bright, fast-moving object flash across the early morning sky. It isn't a meteor or UFO, it's the International Space Station, which will be visible in Westchester County on several days through Nov. 18.

The ISS will first be visible at 5:34 a.m. Friday for roughly one minute. It's maximum height will be 13 degrees above the horizon.

Viewers will have another opportunity on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 5:31 a.m. The ISS will remain visible for about three minutes and will reach a maximum height of 37 degrees above the horizon.

To the naked eye, the ISS appears like a fast-moving star. It is bright enough to be seen even in urban areas with heavy light pollution.
