Helen B. Keller, Enjoyed Bridge, Puzzles

Avid bridge player Helen B. Keller died Sept. 24 at age 81. She was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., on Sept. 11, 1929.

Keller was the youngest of nine siblings. After high school, she went on to secretarial college. She met her husband, Norman W. Keller, who was in medical school, in 1952. Norman Keller had a medical practice in Greenwich until 1992. Keller became a homemaker and mother of nine children.

She was actively involved with the Catholic Church. Keller also enjoyed reading and staying up-to-date with political news. She also loved quiet afternoons, observing the birds at her feeder and doing crossword puzzles.

Keller is survived by her children Laurie, Peter, Connie, Bob, Ken, Kathy, Scott and David; sister, Edith Cavanagh; and 24 grandchildren. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Church, 469 North St., Greenwich. Burial will follow in Putnam Cemetery.
