Greenwich Will Get an Urban Outfitters

This may come as good news for fashionistas: Urban Outfitters plans to hit Greenwich in mid-spring.

The Planning and Zoning Commission has approved plans for the company to open its doors at 20 E. Elm St., formerly the Greenwich Time building.

The Philadelphia-based company caters to hip and urban young adults. Products range from casual clothing to housewares. It was launched in 1970 under the name The Free People's Store. Owner and chairman Richard Hayne soon changed the name to its current title. Urban Outfitters has over 150 stores in the U.S., Canada and Europe. The company also has 145 Anthropologie and 36 Free People stores.
