The main Greenwich Town Party event location at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park will still happen rain or shine. There have been no vendor or band cancellations at this location, officials said.

"The decision to cancel the GTP Rocks the Avenue extension event, made by the GTP Board of Directors, is due to all of the event electricity needing to be protected from the rain as well as to protect all the band's equipment," Town Party officials said in a statement. "This decision was made in the best interest of safety for bands, vendors, and attendees of this extension event. This has been the hardest decision the GTP has had to make in three years."

Those in the Greenwich community who do not have tickets to the main event are encouraged to tune in to WGCH-AM 1490 radio on Saturday from 9:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. to listen to a live broadcast and partial simulcast of the main Greenwich Town Party event.

The headliner of the event is pop singer James Taylor.

The ticketed portion of the Greenwich Town Party opens at 10 a.m.
