Greenwich Teen Reports Stranger Touched Her

GREENWICH, Conn. – An 18-year-old girl told police she was inappropriately touched by a man who persuaded her to get into his white van on Mallard Drive for a ride home Monday.

The teen told police that at 2 p.m. Monday, she was walking along Mallard Drive when she was approached by a passing white van with a ladder on top. The driver offered her a ride. The driver persuaded her to get into the van and drove her to her home a short distance away. While driving to the girl’s residence, the driver inappropriately touched her, she said.

The driver was described as an overweight white male with blue eyes and brownish orange facial hair. He was wearing a gray sweater and a black knit cap.

The Special Victims Section of the Greenwich Police is investigating. If anyone has information regarding this incident, call 203-622-8030 or the tip line at 203-622-3333.

“We also urge all parents to speak to their children regarding the dangers of accepting unsolicited rides from strangers,” said Lt. Kraig Gray, spokesman for the department.
