Greenwich Seeks a New Harbormaster

Greenwich is forming a committee to find a new harbormaster to keep watch over the town’s waterways, First Selectman Peter Tesei announced Friday.

Current harbormaster Jonathan Asch’s appointment ends June 30. The selection committee will interview candidates and forward recommendations to the Board of Selectmen for approval. The board is scheduled to pick a nominee at its May 19 meeting. The name then goes to Gov. Dannel Malloy for consideration and appointment to a three-year term beginning July 1.

Harbormasters are charged with supervising, caring for the operation of all harbors and navigable waterways in Greenwich.

The selection committee will be comprised of Selectman David Theis as chairman, State Rep. Lile Gibbons, Coastal Resources Advisory Committee members John Craine and Lynne Smith, former Selectman Frank Mazza and Greenwich Superintendent of Marine Facilities and Operations Jeffery Freidag.

Applicants should email a resume and cover letter detailing their qualifications to Penny Monahan at pmonahan@greenwichct or 101 Field Point Road, Greenwich, CT 06836. Call (203) 622-7710 for more information. The deadline for applications is the close of business on May 9.
