A man who attempted to steal from a Greenwich grocery store and threatened employees with a syringe was arrested following a police pursuit in the Bronx.
The 42-year-old man, who has not been identified, attempted to steal items at the Stop & Shop on West Putnam Avenue Tuesday afternoon, police said. When store employees approached him, he threatened to stab them with a syringe, officers said.
The man fled and Greenwich Police notified departments from surrounding areas. The Rye Police Department found the mans car and gave chase. He was caught near exit 14 on I-95 in the Bronx when he crashed his SUV, causing the car to roll over and burst into flames. The man fled a short distance on foot and was apprehended. He was being treated at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.
