GREENWICH, Conn. A Stamford man has been arrested and charged with distributing drugs while on his break at a downtown Greenwich restaurant, police said.
It wasnt done blatantly in the open," said Lt. Kraig Gray, spokesman for the Greenwich Police Department. "He was gainfully employed at the restaurant. When he should have been doing work for his employer, he was running his illegal side work." He declined to disclose the name of the restaurant where the man worked.
Jose D. Candray, 36, of 42 Halloween Blvd., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, operation of a drug factory, illegal possession of marijuana, illegal possession of cocaine, sale of cocaine and sale of marijuana.
Investigators could substantiate that the drug sales had been ongoing since at least late October, Gray said. The owner of the restaurant cooperated with officers throughout the investigation. Candray has since been fired. He was held on $10,000 bond and is due in court Friday.
