Greenwichs state Rep. Fred Camillo joined other members of the General Assembly on Tuesday as Gov. Dannel Malloy signed the First Five bill, which offers tax incentives to companies in the state that hire at least 200 new employees.
The event was held at the CIGNA offices in Bloomfield, where the company announced it was the first business to participate in the program. CIGNA also announced it is officially moving its headquarters from Philadelphia to its Bloomfield site. CIGNA is expected to receive $50 million in state assistance for the creation of 200 jobs.
Under the new law, companies that add at least 200 new workers will receive tax incentives from the state. The state Department of Economic and Community Development can give assistance to just five businesses per year in fiscal years 2011-12 and 2012-13.
Camillo is a Republican who represents the 151st House District.
