Greenwich Police Hold DWI Checkpoint Friday Night

The Greenwich Police Department is urging everyone to enjoy the holiday season responsibly. Extra enforcement will be taking place with DWI checkpoints and patrols on weekend nights throughout December and into early January, says Sgt. John Slusarz of the Greenwich police.

A fully staffed checkpoint will be set up from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday. The exact location will be determined that evening, but it will most likely take place on U.S. Route 1 (East or West Putnam Avenue), Delavan Avenue or Arch Street in central Greenwich. The location is based upon analysis of accidents, DWI arrest statistics and travel routes. The police department's traffic section makes the determination.
